LENGTH: 30 km; total length of both faults is about 55 km
NEARBY COMMUNITIES: Los Alamos, Los Olivos
MOST RECENT RUPTURE: Holocene for about 5 km near Highway 101, east of Los Alamos; otherwise, Late Quaternary
SLIP RATE: roughly 0.7 mm/yr
OTHER NOTES: Essentially continuous with the Baseline fault. Both faults dip to the south.
Baseline Fault
TYPE OF FAULT: reverse
LENGTH: 25 km; total length of both faults is about 55 km
NEARBY COMMUNITIES: Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, Lake Cachuma
MOST RECENT RUPTURE: Late Quaternary
OTHER NOTES: The Baseline fault is the southeast extension of the Los Alamos fault. It intersects the much larger Santa Ynez fault zone about 20 km northwest of Santa Barbara.
